Klamath-Falls is the county seat and commercial hub of Klamath County, located in southwest Oregon along the southern shore of Upper Klamath Lake. It's easily reached via Highway 97, just north of the California border and Highway 66 connects it to the city of Ashland, Oregon. In addition to the lake, Klamath County is home to Crater Lake National Park and the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway All American Road (which has been rated one of seventeen best drives in the U.S.). Upper Klamath Lake is one of the largest bodies of fresh water in the state, nearly 30 miles long and eight miles wide. Everything from fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking and windsurfing is available here, and the nearby Klamath River offers Class IV white water rafting. Clean mountain rivers and a multitude of creeks and streams feed the northern portion of Upper Klamath Lake around Pelican Bay, where fly fishermen from around the world come to catch some of the largest trout on record. Canoe and kayak trails meander in and out of the Bay, and resorts line the shore offering lodging, guide services and restaurants. Camping is also popular at Upper Klamath Lake, where you will find quiet, wooded campgrounds that offer breathtaking scenery. There are several museums in the area, and lake excursions are available on the Upper Klamath Lake, including rides on an old fashioned paddlewheeler. An Indian casino is also located just 25 miles north of Klamath Falls and offers slots, blackjack, poker and bingo.
