Gold-Beach
is nestled on the southern Oregon coastline where the mighty Rogue River empties into the Pacific Ocean. The town of Gold Beach is in Curry County, of which, more than half is national forest land! Gold Beach has a friendly, peaceful atmosphere, and is home to many artists who are inspired by the natural beauty of the area. Their work can be viewed in the many art galleries, and arts & crafts specialty shops downtown. For outdoor lovers, the powerful and scenic Rogue River offers spectacular white water rafting opportunities that carries you through narrow canyons and swift rapids. Or, take an exhilarating jet boat trip up the river, or try wind surfing along the breathtakingly beautiful coastline. For something a bit tamer, there is fishing for Steelhead and Salmon in the Rogue River, beachcombing, biking, canoeing, horseback riding, playing golf, or hiking the beach and wooded areas of the Oregon Coast Trail, or one of the many trails of the Wild Rogue Wilderness Area. Many prefer to do nothing at all in Gold Beach, except enjoy the scenery and fresh sea air! Primitive camping is available at sites that are only accessed by trail or river. And, you will also find lovely inns and lodges, rental properties and comfortable hotels and motels in the Gold Beach area.

Gold Beach Weather & Climate

|
The Brookings-Harbor Area, including Gold Beach and the other nearby coastal towns, is known as the "Banana Belt" of the Pacific Northwest. While most of the Oregon coast is blanketed with clouds and fog, the Banana Belt is usually sunny. During the summer months, this area of the coast may be cool and foggy in the mornings, but is soon nice and sunny. Temperatures in the summer are in the upper 60s or low 70s and drop into the mid-50s at night. Rainfall is rare during the summer months in the Banana Belt. During the wintertime, it's another story, with about 80 inches of rainfall per year from November through April. Temperatures in winter average in the 50s to 60s, but it's not uncommon for the thermometer to soar into the 70s or even low 80s. Snow and sleet are rare in this region, and Mt. Emily and Cape Blanco shelter the Banana Belt from high winds.
