Lincoln City is a popular seaside community with seven miles of magnificent public beach near Devil’s Lake State Park. Fresh, clean air, pine and evergreen forests and wide sandy beaches are what keep visitors coming to Lincoln City year after year. Besides the beach, Lincoln City is home to the “shortest river in the world!” The D River runs less than 100 yards from Devils Lake to the Pacific Ocean and divides Lincoln City into north and south. There are several recreational areas in Lincoln City, starting with the D River Wayside, which has beach access and is a popular place for kite flying. Devils Lake is three miles long and separates the northern part of Lincoln City from the Coast Range Mountains. The lake offers nine species of freshwater fish, waterskiing, windsurfing, swimming, boating, and jet skiing. Roads End State Beach Wayside is just north of Lincoln City and has beach access and picnic tables, and is a good place for agate hunting. Horseback riding on the beach is also allowed at Lincoln City, and there are several excellent golf courses just minutes away. And don’t worry if the weather is rainy – there’s plenty to do indoors, as well! You can visit the North Lincoln County Historical Museum, the Pacific Northwest Surfing Museum, take in a movie or play, practice your golf strokes at the indoor driving range, visit a nearby casino, or go shopping at the factory stores at Lincoln City!

Lincoln City Weather & Climate

The Pacific Ocean is the single most influencing factor on the climate along the central coast of Oregon. Because of the normal movement of air masses from west to east, most of the systems moving across Oregon have been extensively modified while traveling over the ocean, or they dissipate completely before reaching dry land. This also keeps temperatures at a moderate level all year long. However, the unlimited supply of moisture available to those air masses is largely responsible for the abundant rainfall over western Oregon and in the higher elevations. Also, beginning near and following the coastline, is the Coast Range Mountains, which also exerts an important influence on the climate. This range forces the air to rise as it moves eastward and the resulting cooling and condisation produces some of the heaviest annual rainfalls in the U.S. along the higher western slopes.
