Tillamook
is a charming town located on Oregon's north coast, nestled into the southern shores of Tillamook Bay. The town is a major recreation center, and is also well known for their cheese production. The Tillamook Cheese Factory and the Blue Heron Cheese Factory offer gourmet food tasting, cheeses, wine and other gifts. Only six miles from the ocean, and with more than 20 rivers and streams feeding into Tillamook Bay, the town of Tillamook is at the heart of some of the most awe inspiring scenery on the Oregon coast. Fishing, boating, sailing, hiking, hang-gliding, clamming and crabbing, beachcombing, exploring tidepools, birdwatching and whale watching, it's all here. While in Tillamook, be sure to drive the Three Capes Scenic Drive, a meandering 40-mile trip that begins in Tillamook and takes you around Cape Meares, Cape Lookout and Cape Kiwanda. Nearby Cape Meares State Park offers more hiking opportunities and some wonderful views of the ocean and Tillamook Bay. Other attractions include Cape Meares Lighthouse, Munson Creek Falls, which is the highest waterfalls on the North Oregon Coast, the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum, the Latimer Quilt and Textile Center and the Tillamook Air Museum. The town of Tillamook is also home to the Tillamook Dairy Festival and Rodeo in late June.

The North Coast Region of Oregon has a climate with strong marine influences. Summers are generally cool and winters are moderate. Westerly winds are predominant from the northwest during the summer and from the southwest in the winter. These winds from the ocean bring heavy rainfall in winter and fog in the summer. The Oregon Pacific coastal zone is characterized by wet winters, relatively dry summers and mild temperatures all year. Along the lower elevations on the immediate coast, annual precipitation is between 65 to 90 inches, but on higher elevations on the west slopes, it can be up to 200 inches. Several days of abundant rainfall can cause floods. Snowfall on the coast is minimal. Extreme high or low temperatures are rare.
